It’s mid-January. When I look out my windows what I most often see are bare trees that are brownish gray and snow. Lots and lots of snow. Yesterday when I left for work, the thermometer in my car registered that the outside temperature was 3 degrees. Let’s just say that the walk from car to train station, and then from train station to my office was nothing short of bracing!
It’s at this point in the season that I become very tired of winter and long for spring and green things. January and February just seem to drag on and on, and it seems that the lake effect snow switch is frozen in the “on” position. The days are so short and we count ourselves lucky when we get a sunny day and temperatures in the low 30’s.
The Dude is a great photographer and has spent a lot of time capturing the seasons and wildlife that surround our home. He has a knack for finding the beauty in the long, cold winters….
But we also find little bright spots of color, thanks to the birds around here. I just love the cardinals and blue jays.
Aren’t they pretty?
So I guess I just have to be patient. Soon April will be upon us and I’ll finally see these….
Until then, I’ll just have to pour another cup of coffee, sit by the window, and watch the snow fall.
